Responsibilities:

 

. Feeding & Nutrition Support

  • Administer G-tube feedings according to medical instructions
     
  • Monitor for signs of discomfort or complications during and after feeds

  • Record feeding times, volumes, and responses accurately
     
  • Prepare bottles or oral feeds if transitioning from G-tube (as advised by parents or medical team)
     

2. Oxygen Monitoring & Respiratory Support

  • Ensure oxygen is delivered properly and tubing is secure at all times
     
  • Monitor oxygen levels if pulse oximetry is used
     
  • Recognize signs of respiratory distress and respond appropriately
     
  • Keep oxygen equipment clean and functioning
     

3. Diapering & Hygiene

  • Change diapers regularly and maintain skin health
     
  • Perform gentle sponge baths or full baths as recommended
     
  • Keep G-tube site dry and clean during hygiene routines
     
  • Wash and sanitize baby’s clothing, linens, and medical items
     

4. Sleep & Nap Management

  • Follow safe sleep practices tailored to medical needs
     
  • Monitor baby closely during naps for any breathing irregularities
     
  • Maintain a consistent and calming nap routine
     

5. Developmental Support

  • Engage in approved activities that support motor and sensory development
     
  • Use gentle play and interaction to stimulate cognitive and emotional growth
     
  • Follow any therapy plans (e.g., early intervention exercises)
     

6. Medical & Emergency Awareness

  • Understand baby’s medical history and emergency protocol
     
  • Administer medications or supplements if directed by parents
     
  • Keep emergency contact info and medical supplies readily available
     
  • Communicate any concerns or unusual symptoms immediately
     

7. Communication & Documentation

  • Maintain detailed logs of feeding, oxygen use, sleep, and mood
